From our front desk staff to our veterinary technicians and technician assistants, everyone at Brooklyn Heights Veterinary Hospital is excited to see you and your pet. The staff at BHVH is full of dedicated animal lovers who enjoy the intimacy of the practice, because it means we get to establish trusting relationships with you and your pet(s). Every member of the team is invested in your pet’s care and is available to answer questions and help with follow-up.

Heather Thomson, DVM

Head Veterinarian

Dr. Thomson renovated Brooklyn Heights Veterinary Hospital with a vision for a state-of-the-art space in which she could practice the highest level of medicine every single day. Her passion for animals and providing excellent, well-rounded care has lead to a trusting, intimate relationship with the pet owners of the Brooklyn Heights community and beyond. Her favorite moments of the day are when she can solve a mysterious or persistent issue in a pet’s health and provide relief for the animal and its family. She has a special interest in surgery and dentistry. She graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 2000 and is USDA Accredited (so that she can issue International Health Certificates). Dr. Thomson lives in Brooklyn and has a daughter, a dog named Maple, and a cat named Mochi. When she’s not in the hospital, she loves riding her bike around the neighborhood with her family, gardening, and traveling.

Noah Plakun, Office Manager

Noah was first introduced to the hospital as a client in 2015 when he brought his cat Cairo and his dog Franklin in to the hospital. In 2016, he made the jump from client to employee and the rest, as they say, is history. Noah shares his home with his dog Dutchie and his two cats, Hugo and Charlotte.
