Scheduled appointments are available Monday-Saturday. We recommend scheduling two to three days in advance, or up to a week in advance if this is your first appointment with us! Walk-ins are not accepted at this time.

We dispense all medication to clients through our in-hospital pharmacy. For pets on specialty or compounded medication long-term, we often use compounding pharmacy services to have medication delivered directly to the client’s home. We stock and sell “prescription diets” by Hills, Royal Canin, Rayne Clinical Nutrition and Purina. At this time, we can only sell prescription diets to clients whose pets have been examined by our doctors.

Dr. Thomson has a special interest in dentistry. Dental procedures are performed in our state-of-the-art dental suite equipped with an in-house dental X-ray machine. Our patients can rely on multiple highly trained surgery technicians to provide attentive anesthesia monitoring, skilled assistance to the doctor during routine dental scaling, and diligent post-procedure care. We perform routine dental cleanings as well as treatment of dental disease, repair of tooth fractures, and extractions.

If your pet is experiencing an emergency, please call our hospital directly at 718-624-1200. If you reach us after hours, please take your pet directly to a 24 hour emergency hospital such as VERG North or Blue Pearl Brooklyn. Scheduled appointments are available Monday-Saturday.

We utilize a mobile ultrasonographer and cardiologist up to twice a week to perform ultrasounds, fine needle aspirates, and echocardiograms in-hospital, with specialist interpretation and consultation.

Dr. Thomson has a special interest in surgery. Procedures are performed in-hospital in our state-of-the-art surgical suite. Every patient can rely on multiple highly trained surgery technicians to diligently monitor and assist their progress, from pre-treatment, to anesthesia, to post-surgical recovery. We perform routine spays/neuters, as well as mass removals and other extensive soft tissue surgeries. For more advanced orthopedic and soft-tissue surgeries, Dr. Thomson periodically invites specialized surgeons to visit BHVH to make these procedures available to our patients in a familiar environment.
